Mid-autumn festival mooncake donation

In this year’s mid-autumn festival, we had the opportunity to give back to our good friends, Sailability Hong Kong and Happy Grannies Hong Kong, with custom-designed mooncake sets! Mooncakes for happy granny were gifted to live-alone elderlies across Cheung Sha Wan, and Sailability moon cakes were shared amongst Sailability sailors and their families.

This would not have been possible without the help of Mr Chadwick Lie from Chong Lap Hong Kong for sponsoring 200 moon cakes, talented illustrator Herbert Kinghin Spedding from Sailability Hong Kong, and our very own graphic design intern Vivienne Yuen!

Hope everyone had a joyous Mid-Autumn Festival ☺️🌕

Toilet Tells

Emily was invited to be a panelist at the "Toilet Tells - Rediscover Public Toilets: Special Online Preview" on the 21 of November, co-organized by the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department and Architectural Services Department.⠀⠀

This Special Online Preview revisited the Hong Kong public toilet service by three topics - "Public Toilet and the City: What to Rediscover?", "Public Health and Design: What to Re-envision?" and "From Global to Local: What to Re-consider?".

The event was organized by HKDC and One Bite Design Studio and marked the beginning of a series of community co-creation workshops that aim at improving the public toilet facilities.

SOW Asia (Biotech and Wellbeing)

Last February, Studio Doozy was lucky to be selected to be part of SOW Asia’s Biotechnology and Wellbeing Cohort 2.

SOW Asia is a charitable foundation based in Hong Kong that supports enterprises’ intent on scaling their social impact through a 4 months accelerator program

From February to June, 5 companies were trained by the SOW Asia’s team and affiliates on how to become sustainable and appealing to investors, by going to multiple business workshops and pitch practices.

Not only was SOW Asia’s training good, the connections established during the duration of the Cohort were even more valuable. Among other activities, SOW Asia lined all the teams up with staff from Goldman Sachs to help perfect our pitch and business model. We also had the honour to meet individually with multiple seasoned experts that have helped us grow and with whom we have established long-lasting connections.

Besides all of these valuable contacts, we had a fantastic time sharing among the other companies present in the Cohort. They all have amazing technologies and ideas that will definitely have a big social impact. Specially, Justin from Gens Technologies has developed a real-time sign language translator wristband for the deaf and mute and Fiona from Fiope, with a smart diaper system for modern elderly centres and hospitals among others.

The 4-month accelerator program culminated with the Investor’s Pitch Night on June 13th, in which all of the companies had the chance to pitch and introduce their company and products to a room filled with social investors and friends.

SOW Asia’s accelerator programme has been a remarkable experience that has helped us grow and connect with amazing people. We truly thank SOW Asia for such opportunity and honour to let us be part of the programme!

Meet Taipei 2018

Studio Doozy was kindly invited by the Polytechnic University of Hong Kong to be part of Meet Taipei 2018. Meet Taipei gathered hundreds of startup companies from Taiwan and abroad and it was a fantastic opportunity to network, learn and showcase our products and services.

Located in Taipei Expo Dome, the event lasted 3 days (15th to 17th of November) and besides meeting and presenting our products to the multitude of people walking by, Studio Doozy also pitched its mission and products at the Global Media Stage, where a jury also gave us precious feedback.

This was our second time participating in an exhibition and once again we are seeing a lot of traction and interest in the line of products and services Studio Doozy is developing. Ageing is a well-known fact that most people empathize with at the same time that they understand how important it is to find better ways to age better at home.

Once again, we want to thank innoHub and PolyU (especially Clement) to organize and let us be part of this event!

HKYDTA Alumni Networking

On October 18th, Emily was invited to speak at the DFA HKYDTA Alumni Networking Night about her experience abroad as an awardee from 2015. The event also gathered the new talented awardees from 2018 along with the top representatives of this prestigious award.

During the sharing session, Emily spoke about how being an awardee of the HKDTA gave her the opportunity of working abroad at ROCA Sanitarios in Barcelona and how this experience shaped her later steps into entrepreneurship.
